Default GLIDING INTERNATIONAL - ISSUE JULY 2020 - NOW MAILING

It is a very interesting issue and you will read about:

.The competitive Market. The AS34 is good buying at present prices.
.A new carbon fibre composite material which can be bent with electronic impulses willl be available soon. Tests announced May 7. It is now concievable for a pilot to change his wing profile in flight. Imagine aircraft wings that bend and alter their own form without hydraulic rudders and ailerons..
.Sebastian Kawa back on deck after his disastrous outlanding. He writes encouragingly about the Diana 3.
.We bring you up to date news about O.S.T.I.V. and who with a group of Americans have decided to highlight motor glider design problems. The problem area is large and the problems that need attention are extensive. Which gliders ? – you name it!
.Jim Payne hits the headlines again. Another world record!
.Great Britain has stolen the lead on developing Hydrogen power for aircraft. UP and running!
.The world’s biggest wind tunnel company is based in the Netherlands and doing well thank you sailplane designers.
.A 90 percent drop in air traffic over Europe. The sky looks like a morgue.
.The Germans have produced/listed 100 plus new aviation related words to add to your dictionary. Very interesting how they evolved and where they came from.
.There is a world shortage of sailplane service mechanics. Problems loom!
.Lack of sleep is a problem too many glider pilots have. Fatigue is an item health monitors are looking into.
.Graphene makes carbon fibre stronger. A new paper on the subject just released.
.Tesla advancing its strong lead in battery performance.
.BMW and Toyota jointly have produced a prototype Hydrogen motor. A new concept.

.This and 40 other stories for your enjoyment/edification.
