Default Aluminized fiberglass

I have come across a small amount of aluminized fiberglass. Any idea
what it would be used for?

I'm just going to be using it for some nonstructural widgits and it was
free.

1) Making a structure that will survive lightning strikes. Assuming
you also have conductive paint, are ready to electrically bond each
piece to it's neighbor, and don't care if the resin adheres very well
to the aluminum.

2) Make a composite Faraday cage. Same issues.

Is it treated as the non aluminized stuff in terms of using it?

Yes. You end up with the resin encapsulating the fibers instead of
actually bonding to them. So anything you build out of it will be
very weak, compared to the same structure without the aluminum on the
glass.

But if it's a non-structural doodad, just wet it out and let it set.

Terrific, thanks.
