Yes it is abrupt and lacks tact but is there a better way to approach Robert
Mudd at this point?

I have sent him Emails and even tried to phone him with no reply..,, I am
really open to suggestions but I do really feel ripped off and am quite
upset about it.

Duh, call a lawyer! After your potentially libelous post, you may need
to call one anyway.

Mat,
Several thoghts come to mind reading this whole string.
First, I think you would want to get out your dictionary and look up the
words "slander" and "libel". Carefully considering the definition of those
two words might save you both grief and "face".
It's my opinion that the only reputation you are tarnishing here is your
own. That's not a personal attack but an observation.
Look at the tone and content of the responses you are receiving here and
consider if you think they are accomplishing what you intend. This is, for
the most part, a congenial and intelligent group of people who exchange
opinions and information for the benefit of all.
I'll bet too, that there are two sides to this story if anyone but you
really cares.
Cheers! Have a happy day, keep dreaming of that 80:1 flying wing.

Apparently things are really slow around the shop these days.

Then again, perhaps alienating everybody else coould be fun, too?

Yes, my first choice would have been to call a lawyer, then as the
case was settled, hopefully IN court, a link to the published record
placed in the groups, repeatedly.

One that does not respond to requests to set the situation straight,
to live up to his word, cannot be libeled. Theft is theft, whether it
is by pistol or by broken promise makes no difference.

Matt, I have found that in the long run, the best way is to just
replace the item yourself, and resolve that the person that conned you
never takes anything from you again, without cash in hand. I have
several people that come to me for repair work, and know that unless
they have cash, not check, they will not leave with the parts in hand.
The worst part is knowing that the parts are for hign buck toys, and
those people have no excuse of poverty.

This is weird, Mat. His address is on his web site (www.apisgliders.com).
You didn't need to ask RAS to discover this. I hope you rethink this
approach because it's DOA: this approach is high risk for you because
(right or wrongly), your reputation won't trump Robert's. You should
resolve this directly with Robert or through an intermediary that both of
you respect.

This is the same nutcase who ragged on his club's directors because he wanted
to wear a chute and fly with students not wearing one. Oh... or is it the same
guy who makes inept commercial claims about his silly flying wings. Or is it
the same guy who's so far out of the mainstream he can't even find the stream.
Guaranteed there is another side to this story and this is yet another
affectation of Mat's socially impaired existance.

Welcome to the law minute with Mitch Hudson, on this show, I, as an
inexperienced lawyer, attempt to answer questions mailed to me. Our
first letter comes from young Davy Radanovich from Kokomo, Indiana.
Davy writes "Dear Mitch, I would like to know what the difference
between slander and liable, could you help me?"

My response:
"What kind of pea brained moron would ask such a stupid question? If
I were you, Davy, I would worry more about inbreeding than I would
about the law"…

Davy, that was liable. If I would have said it out loud, it would
have been slander.

Thank you for reading another episode of the law minute, please tune
in next week for more law questions posted here on RAS by your
favorite inexperienced armchair lawyer

Dear Mitch,

Kindly refer to your nearby dictionary and note the difference between
"liable" and "libel". No doubt, you (I mean Davy Radanovich) meant the
latter. But then, I'm not a lawyer and neither do I play one on TV. Next
case, please :-).

Dear Mitch or Davy, it appears you left the word "is" out of the question
about the difference between liable (sic) and slander. Or perhaps, like one
notorious lawyer, you were not sure of what the definition of "is" is.

Davy writes "Dear Mitch, I would like to know what the difference
between slander and liable, could you help me?"
