Default Grumman info

Does anybody know, or know how to find out what the factory "standard"
avionics package was on a 1978 Grumman AA5B "Tiger"?

You may try asking one of the old dealers, but you better have a good reason
if you really want them to look it up.

I found a used one and the sellers representative can only tell me that it
is all original avionics. I need more information.

installation. Do you not trust the logs?

Haven't seen the logs yet... Rep says they are "original"... Just don't
know what "original" means.

Deal seems too shady to be legitimate. I'll probably just walk away. 1978
Tiger with 522 hrs TTAF&E but still flown regularly, just not much. Problem
is, its located in Argentina. There are red flags all over this deal.

are you going to do a pre-buy in Argentina?

There are Tigers available for sale in the US, if you want one and are
patient you can find a good one. Spend some time with the grumman owners
group (Grumman Gang, etc) and you'll get a lot of information and offers of
planes for sale. It took me about 6 months to find a good well-maintaned
Tiger.

Dealing with the seller's "representative" will tend to foster lies
and deceits. Good luck with this one. Or, ask to see the original
paperwork for the aircraft.

I'm pretty sure the ones we flew circa 1974 had King KX-170s in them. They
were single radio because we didn't use them for anything other than pretty
basic stuff.
