Default (USA) logbook endorsement requirement(s) for new glider type?

I agree. IMHO, the insurance company is using the CFIG as an agent to confirm that the pilot has a basic understanding of the glider, and has at least spoken with a person of authority who holds the "keys" to flight in the new plane.

I go over the POH, cockpit, and general basics of operation. The details are very dependent on whether I know the person or the glider.

I will not endorse the logbook if I have any belief that the pilot is irresponsible enough to not obtain the proper training (whether from a CFIG or other experienced pilot) prior to a first flight. And the endorsement only confirms that I have provided the briefing, no more, no less.
