Default Standard Class / National Distance to Goal Record

448.24mi
Fritz Seger
8/29/1987

Not to diminish Fritz Seger's fantastic flight but, I would have
thought this record would have been surpassed on some of the ridges in
the east by now. Is going for this record unappealing to a lot of
pilots?

Look at Ken Arterburn's flight in an ASW-15 distance to a goal 532

Pretty cool. Look at the flight below it. 503.39mi

Why is this not the national record for distance to a declared goal?
