I hadn’t seen Andy in more than 10 years when he called me out of the blue wanting to talk about refinishing an LS-3, about 5 years back? Couldn’t figure what that was all about? Did Andy try refinishing sailplanes after retiring from the airlines?

Requiem
The sky is empty, where are you?
I search and yet do not see.
Do you rise yet again, a whirling dervish,
a dust devil ascending?
Is your voice now the plaintive cry
of a hawk rising up and calling out
come fly with me, I am not gone?
I will search the sky and perhaps someday
will see you again among the clouds smiling
as you are more than just a fond but sad memory.

I am sorry to hear that Andy has passed. He called me for help with his Glide Navigator II software and old Compaq Aero 1500 PDAs from time to time. He was a friendly person and a character. He often made me laugh. He will be missed.

Andy flew his final glide last Wednesday night. You will be missed EA!

Whenever we have more information, we will pass information about his memorial service.

I had not seen Andy in years and have often wondered how he was holding up.

Flashback to 2011 or so. I land at Seminole the day after the Seniors, straight-out from Homestead in my 1-35. Andy shakes his head and sez "It's too early in the year for a flight like that". I say "Andy, tell the truth - it's ALWAYS too early in the year for a flight like that!".

Only time I got a laugh out of him.
