Default Paging George Patterson...

I gather you spent much of your career in the Telecom industry, so I though
you might find this interesting:

Who Killed Telecom? Why the Official Story Is Wrong
by Lawrence Gasman

In the mid-1990s as it seemed that lawmakers were about to abandon much of
the regulatory apparatus that had hampered the telecommunications industry
since the 1930s, the telecom equipment industry began to boom, helped in
part by the rise of the Internet. The deregulatory trend led ultimately to
the 1996 Telecom Act, and soon the architects and implementers of that act
were congratulating themselves on a job well done. We were supposedly
building a new telecom infrastructure fit for the information age.

So you post a blatantly off-topic article here instead? How in the world is
that better?

Maybe next we can examine how energy deregulation led to nearly free
electricty in California.

When did they deregulate energy in California?

Everything I've read indicates that they never even came close to
deregulation.

First you need to explain how a regulation set that went from 8,000 pages to
21,000 pages is "deregulation".

Some analysts at CATO Institute and Reason Foundation independently and
pretty accurately predicted what eventually happened in California before
the ink was dry on the governors signature.

You evidently don't read the LA Times or NY Times (specifically: Paul
Krugman).
