Experimental Soaring Association 2011 Western Workshop

Friday evening Sept. 2 – Monday Sept. 5, 2011 (Labor Day Weekend)

Mountain Valley Airport (L94), Tehachapi, California

No pre-registration necessary

NOTES:

For Potluck BBQs – bring meat and drink for yourself, and something to
share. Utensils, plates, cups, etc provided
For Saturday night auction – donations of items gratefully accepted –
clean out your workshop and bring that white elephant, which might be
someone else’s treasure…

5:30PM - Potluck BBQ at the Byard Hangar (See notes above)

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 3rd
Registration in Armstrong Hangar, Lectures in Byard Hangar
8:30AM – Phil Barnes – Regenerative Electric Flight - Emulating the

9:30AM – Cam Martin – The Glasflugel Libelle: Still the World’s Most
Beautiful Sailplane
10:30AM – Jeff Byard – Soaring Then and Now: Things We Don’t Do
Anymore
11:30AM - Les King
12:30-1:30 – LUNCH
1:30PM – Dean Sigler – Geodesic Construction and the Anpiel Sailplane
Design
2:30PM – Chinmay Patel – Ultralight Sailplane Design and Model
3:30PM – ESA Business meeting
4:30PM – Simine Short – Locomotive to Aeromotive
5:30PM – Potluck BBQ Dinner - Byard Hangar (see notes above) and
Book Signing by Simine Short

7:15PM – Auction –Les King, Auctioneer - bring stuff to donate!

4:30PM – Karl Klingbiel (Aerovironment) – Ornithopter Aerodynamics
5:30PM – Potluck Dinner
7:15PM – “Dessert’s on Us” – Free Dessert and Presentation by Gary
