NEW - DG-1001 E - EXCITING NEWS

DG has just decided to start development of the DG-1001E the first double-seater with FES in serial production!

A imagined (photoshopped) image of the new sailplane is available he

We will begin manufacture late this summer and plan the first test flights in early spring next year.

Preliminary system features:

- LZ Design FES System for double seaters
- 30kw electric motor
- 2x 16S new generation LiPo batteries
- FES control unit on each seat
- Expected performance similar to single seater systems
ca. 1,5 – 2 m/s max climb rate
ca. 45 min running time in level flight (100-110 km/h)
ca. 20-25 min running time at max. rpm

The glider basic version will featu
- DG-1001
- 20m wingtips
- Electrical undercarriage
- Nose hook moves slightly backwards
- Still capable of aerobatics without batteries in 17.2m

In case there is a demand we could technically install the system in a new DG-1001Club neo (low, 3 wheel undercarriage) as well. But I will need your feedback on this.

Existing DG-1000/DG-1001 cannot be retrofitted because the FES version will have its own structure and battery box based on the DG-1000T.

It is unlikely that a self-launch is possible because of certification reasons.

We currently work on price list and option documents. Both will be available next week.

With this development it’s the first time for many years DG invents something ahead of the market. The only double seater with FES existing is the Akaflieg prototype glider B13e which is not designed for serial production.
So DG is now the only company at present that has a FES powered double seater in its catalogue.

Sailplane pilots in North American can request a quote from Paul Remde at Cumulus Soaring, Inc.

Will it be self-launching, or just a sustainer option?
