The Bud Light logo will stay
From the Washington Post: "Consequently, we respectfully wish to inform you that the National Air and Space Museum has no plans to alter the Laser 200 from the way it was when it was last flown by Leo Loudenslager and ultimately given to us by his daughters," Dailey wrote. The plane was displayed at the flagship museum on the Mall and has been transferred to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport, which opens Dec. 15. See http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2003Nov20.html There's an editorial in the Los Angeles Times tut-tutting about the "lack of context" in the Udvar-Hazy exhibit of the Enola Gay. If this were Disney World instead of NASM, one would almost suspect that the controversies were intended to stir up public awareness and interest in the new NASM annex. (They've certainly grabbed my attention!) all the best -- Dan Ford email: (put CUB in subject line) see the Warbird's Forum at www.warbirdforum.com and the Piper Cub Forum at www.pipercubforum.com |

Just got the new Smithsonian magazine today, big spread on NASM with
pictures. Looks like a gotta see thang now. They also mentioned the Enola Gay controversy with the Japanese thinking it is insensitive to the nuked folks there and others thinking it needs to be mentioned. NASM is just showing it as the technology advance of the time in the B-29. The new museum certainly looks nice but don't know if I could walk that "skywalk" to see the hanging birds. Nice to know that somebody has some principles in this day and age. I must agree with the critics that encouraging impressionable youngsters to drink Bud Light is a corrupting influence. I think they should change it to "Sierra Nevada Stout" or at least "Yuengling Porter." vince norris |

When Leo hangered this plane at MRC several years ago, a friend of mine and
me snuck (read "broke") into the hanger he kept it in (a community hanger at that) just to touch it. lol. We were 15. I had a chance to talk with him a couple of times. Heck of a nice guy. go figure he'd buy it on a motorcycle. And they call pilots crazy. Jeff "Cub Driver" wrote in message ... Speaking as a religious fanatic that is opposed to drinking or drug abuse in
any form, I have to say that I think keeping the logo is the right decision. |
