Thats an easy $250,000 for someone. I doubt any of the contributors
get a cut for their 'work' appearing in his book as well

I didn't. No one did.

And frankly, the whole thing is a bit of a scam (even beyond the taking of
copyrighted material for a commercial venture). When it was just
volunteered information provided for free to the reader, that was one thing.
But there's lots of out-of-date information in there now, and to charge
people for stuff like that is borderline fraudulent.

If someone is foolish enough to pay for the book or the web site, they will
likely find in short order that they significantly overpaid given the
quality of the information available.

Not only out of date, but he purposely removed the dates of the
comments from readers, with a silly explanation that this is how the
rest of the travel industry does it. More likely, most of the pireps
on the site date back to the Clinton administration. I really have a
hard time believing the subscription-only business model will survive,
even if it is only $8 a year.
