Default C-152 Emergency Landing at Rancho Murietta

Check out this link:

http://www.kcra.com/news/5844154/detail.html

The video shows the tracks left in the mud by the mains and front
tire...

As quoted by the news-copter, it appears to have been a text book
soft-field approach. You can see when he pans out that the mains are
the only tracks in the mud for several hundred feet, then the front
touches down, causing the plane to over-turn

Nobody was seriously hurt, thank God!

Best Regards,
Todd

Wow! I didn't know about this. I teach out of that airport. We had a
pretty nasty accident last summer where a friend of mine was flying
with a primary student and mismanaged the fuel. They landed short of
the airport. She may never walk again, the student was injured but the
CFIs daughter was also onboard (luckily unhurt). Several months ago a
soloed student rented the Bell 47 and lost the tail rotor. She lived
but may have trouble walking as well.

What video? There is no valid link where it says "video" on the page as
it appears now. Got a direct link to the video?

I remember the one with the CFI's daughter aboard, although I never
really heard any follow-up information. I'm sorry to hear that the
injuries were that severe! :-(

As you know, it's actually a nice airport to land at, minus the gusty
winds at times. Flying out of the foothills, it is a welcome sight to
see all of the open fields surrounding the airport, but it seems open
fields can be deceiving as well...

It's too bad we've been seeing so much of this lately. There was a
lear-jet last week (at least I heard), and the recent crash at
Truckee...

Carburetor ice? There has been a lot of wet, nasty weather in CA lately!

Especially now where the weather looks so CAVU. Makes you think you're
flying in the summer and forget about carb ice.

The little picture to the right, at the top of the story, has a "Video"
link under it. It shows a short adv. before the story. Uses Windows
Media Player

That one doesn't play either - it insists I have to get more software.

Never mind.

The news report mentioned electrical problems, who knows.
