Default fires at Tahoe

I am thinking of going up to Airsailing this weekend for some XC
paractice. Does anyone have any info on the impact the fires are
having in the area? Visibility, TFRs? (extra thermals???) Friday
looks windy, but the weekend looks OK according to NOAA

it is very typical for there to be TFRs in areas with wildfires. they
keep the area clear so that the firefighting aircraft can do their
job. there would probably be good thermals but no where to land!

the NOTAMS will tell you were the TFRs are.
right now it appears to be confined to the South Tahoe Valley and not
impacting Minden or Air Sailing
How ever.. the smoke appears to be north, NE and thick.

We are getting smoke here in the LAS valley from the Tehachapi fires.. and
we are almost 200 miles away.

Thanks for all the good info, especialy the links. I have booked them
for future use as well. Airsailing looks managable. The Pinenuts are
questionable, depending on what the wind does... Will wait and see
for now.

Smoke haze in the Minden area was minimal for most of the day today. I flew
over Heavenly at 12K, staying at least 1/2 mile from the TFR edge. The burn
area showed no visible flame, just gray smoke blowing NE and not mushrooming
into the sky as on previous days.
