NO ONE has flown in or out of Iowa City all day, and we've taken cancellations at about the same rate as people are stumbling in off the road. One poor woman did a 360 degree donut right in front of the hotel. She came in and rented a suite right then and there. Our only dim hope: The temperature just broke the freezing mark, up from 23 earlier today. Hopefully the forecasters are correct and temps will continue to rise overnight... -- Just wait and global warming will melt it all for you...like tomorrow/ |

*snort!* Let's see, we had real snow for Thanksgiving -- far earlier than most years -- and now we're headed into the deep freeze tonight. Yep, the climate is sure changing dramatically. ...in ice. In case you think you are alone in experiencing weather today -- I had to cancel my mountain checkout today. Apparently 50 knot winds are a bit strong for flying up to Lake Tahoe in a Citabria. Extra bonus -- if we went flying, the winds aloft would have added 50% to the speed of the plane on the way there... (Yeah, I know: only in California is a windy day "weather". I grew up in Toronto, and only recently moved here. I miss the snow already.) Chris |

Here at 54 degrees north (further north than the entire continental United States, I've not seen a flake of snow at my house for 2 years running. We've not even had a frost yet this winter. I brought one of my more tender palm trees indoors on a couple of nights when it looked like we were getting a freeze, but it never happened. Of course, the Gulf stream might have something to do with that :-) -- From the sunny Isle of Man. Yes, the Reply-To email address is valid. |
