That article indicates only that the wings "folded up in flight". Is
there additional information elsewhere indicating this was a rigging
error?

A real shame, regardless.

"NTSB Investigator Butch Wilson states there is no known issue with
the 36A's detachable wings, so long as they are mounted properly to
the fuselage prior to flight."

Purely speculation at this point, probably not far off base though. A
shame is right.

Look at the link which states the pilot was doing a stunt, whatever
that means. Knowing the process, it would be wise to wait until the
NTSB issues a preliminary report.

I sincerely doubt a rigging error. Sounds like too many Gs.

....and too few feet (of altitude). Maybe a high speed pass followed
by a high G pullup?

Wing failure occured 30 minutes after launch according to NTSB report
from witnesses.
