Default need inexpensive manuals for 172

Having just purchased a 1976 Skyhawk, I would like to buy service and parts manuals for both the airframe and the 0-320.

What is the cheapest practical way to find these books.

I'm sure several people will be able to give you links to shops that sell
them, but as an alternative, watch eBay. Keep your eyes open and you'll
often find one for your exact model.

While not cheap, one can get official service manuals for many types
of aircraft at www.avantext.com. The quarterly-updated CD for the
C172 series appears to go for $850-1000, says http://tinyurl.com/svdz.

Mike,

The service and parts manuals for the airplane are updated from time
to time. If you go "cheap" you may buy yourself an out of date
version and get yourself in a jam as part numbers change or service
instructions change (yes, I know, they are old airplanes but things
change as parts suppliers come and go). So, watch what you get.

All the best,
Rick
