Any opinions on xc soaring in the San Antonio area? Uvalde in August
speaks for itself, but how long is the soarable season in south TX, and
are conditions good closer to San Antonio?

Thanks,
Erik

Hi Erik,

I live in San Antonio and fly an ASW-28 out of Boerne. It is 15 nm NW
of San Antonio International. The cross-country soaring is just like
Uvalde and indeed many of my flights include Uvalde. Cross-country
will take you down South to Laredo or out West or North as far as you
like. Expect cloud base to 8 or 9 K with thermal strength anywhere
from 5-10 kts. and occasionally higher. August is usually best but the
season begins in early May and goes through late September. I'd be
happy to take some flights with you. Where are you located?

Best regards,
Tom N.
