Default Cobra Trailer Screw Jack

I have a screw jack on my 2012 cobra trailer that becomes very difficult to
operate after every 2 or 3 uses in order to jack up my ASW-27B for
disassembly. The glider is operated in a sandy environment and the screws
become dirty quickly. Anyone have any idea about how to avoid the
necessity for frequent cleaning. I have used hydraulic jacks in the past
but I got tired of them leaking and collapsing.

Thanks,

MC

Use dry film (NOT WD-40 or similar crap) but real moly disulfide dry
film lube. Molycote 121 IIRC, is a product that comes in a can, one
can will last decades, as long as you don't use any thing else...you
have to be able to completly clean the part free of grease or oil
first...

Woah there! Back up a bit and tell me about Cobra hydraulic jack failures -
I've just decided I just upgrade from the screw to the hydraulic, I operate
off grass.
Is there a history of problems with the Cobra hydraulic system? What has
been the experience of other Cobra users?
Anyone care to venture an opinion?

I replaced a totally worn out (circa 1985)Cobra screw jack with a Cobra hydraulic jack about 3 years ago, time split between midwest and west (desert), and havn't had any problem with leaks, etc.

I do make sure the valve is shut at all times except when lowering the ramp.

I also replaced the big Cobra jack actuating lever with a small butterfly nut. Not as convenient, but not as finicky either, and less chance of munging up the valve.

Bottom line - I love it. So much easier than a screw jack. Highly recommended.

YMMV, of course...

Cheers,

Kirk
