Family and young pilots Region 3 Contest

Region 3 at Harris Hill had a number of notable youth and family accomplishments.
Roy McMaster was joined by grandson Ryan in the cockpit as well as son Justin and grandson JT on the race course. Justin came very close to winning in FAI. This is only the third time any of us can recall 3 generations flying in one contest. On on one morning, both Ryan and his Dad gave winner speeches , having won both classes.
Second generation glider pilot Nik Gradinski scored his first win in Sports..
JP Stewart, who was the associated with much comment earlier this year, came 4th in Sports, narrowly missing the podium.
This writer was forced by a family emergency to vacate the back seat of K21..
Grandson Calvin Mampe joined Rachel Conklin on Friday filling in for me.
Rachel and sister Michelle, both veteran co pilots with me, took the controls on Saturday and flew the course in challanging conditions. This may be the first time 2 young ladies have raced together.
It was really nice to see some non gray haired pilots doing well.
