Default For Sale: LX160

Hi,

I just learned that the LX Navigation LX160 has been replaced with the new
LX160si. The new model offers very easy connection for a Colibri and a
Pocket PC. It also provides 5V power (2A) for the Pocket PC. The original
LX160 did not have that ability.

I purchased an original LX160 for my stock last summer (2004). It is only a
few months old. Since it has been superseded I would like to sell it at a
discounted price. I have listed it on my web site for $1295. That is a
very good price for an electronic vario with averager, speed-to-fly and
final glide.

The LX160 is a very nice vario with a final glide computer that uses actual
mechanical switches rather than a Pocket PC. It can be connected to a
Pocket PC, but it is not required. It seems ideally suited to club ships.
Final glide data can be entered using the switches, or it can be connected
to any GPS for more accurate and easy use in flight.

not entirely correct......
the LX160 is the same as the LX160S....the LX160S is (S stands for Short)
slightly shorter instrument than the original LX160 and with simple software
update performs the same in functions

Hi,

To clarify, the unit I have for sale at a discounted price is labeled as an
LX160. Not the newer LX160s or LX160si.

I asked the factory if it would be possible to upgrade the LX160 in my stock
to an LX160si and he said no, "Almost all mechanical parts are new and some
additional parts are soldered on PCB's."

Tim, I appreciate your feedback. In your note below, are you saying that
the new product is called an LX160S rather than an LX160si? The e-mail I
received from the factory used the text "LX160si" several times. However,
the LX web site has manuals available for the LX160s but not the "LX160si".
The manual for the LX160s on the web site does show the connectors for the
Colibri and Pocket PC.

I think the hardware upgraded version known as the "LX160si" is cool because
it can power a Pocket PC with 5V and allows connection to a Colibri using a
simple phone style cable that provides 12V power for the Colibri along with
data connections. It is my understanding that the LX160 could not do those
things.

When connected to a Colibri and WinPilot the LX160si (and LX1600) can
provide WinPilot with all the data required for WinPilot Pro.
