One would have to be quite naive to think that Jay has no commercial motive in his almost daily crossposted update notices. Well... there is a slight difference, here. Jay isn't a commercial vendor who suddenly appeared in the groups to shill his wares. He was participating in these newsgroups for at least four years prior to his purchasing the hotel. He's an aircraft owner, and has posted extensively on his ownerships experiences and his opinions on a variety of topics. He's doing us a favor by posting pictures of our airplanes on his web space...not to mention collecting all the neat aviation videos all in one spot. True, it might be better if he made the "New Updates to the Rogues' Gallery" postings on a biweekly or monthly basis, rather than every time a plane is added. But I see his postings as enthusiasm, not commercialism. He's having fun, and he wants to share it with the rest of us. Over the years, we've had a number people who regularly posted fun stuff here, but quit posting when the negativism became overwhelming. Let's not add another to the list. Ron Wanttaja |

You folks are great, and I really enjoy seeing what everyone is flying --
it makes the newsgroup experience just that much better. Yes, it does, Jay. And thanks for hosting the pics. All those screaming "spam" have never even tried to either run a business or be polite to another human being. Luckily, you are capable of doing both at once. |

George Patterson Great discoveries are not announced with "Eureka!". What's usually said is "Hummmmm... That's interesting...." I doubt that they are the majority, just the loud ones. I grew tired of his constant updates a while ago, and I think most people did. I also think that the majority decided as I did to toss his name into the killfile rather than waste everybodies time complaining. Now I don't have to look at his updates, and I doubt that the majority of readers see his posts. That is the reason that repetitive spamming is a waste of time - it goes unseen by those you want to reach with your message. Scott McQ |

I, and obviously some others as well, see his daily update notices as an advertising ploy. I agree with your biweekly suggestion but I also I suggest that he should not crosspost them. If he posts update notices to his website, he should post them to each newsgroup separately and let the replies (pro, con, or indifferent) fall where they may in each newsgroup. Over the years, we've had a number people who regularly posted fun stuff here, but quit posting when the negativism became overwhelming. Let's not add another to the list. Perhaps those "fun stuff" posters had commercial ulterior motives as well, hence the eventual negativity. |

Why does he need to remove foot? I agree with Ron, I like Jay and he contributes to this NG but I really don't think we need to know each time someone posts to his web site. Jerry Jay posts photos given him by the PARTICIPANTS OF THIS FORUM. For free, at that. How hard would it be to filter these posts? |

Why is there ellipsis at the end of this sentence fragment? I've always been puzzled as to the correct use of ellipsis. Reduces tip losses with an ellipstical lift distribution... More efficient than a constant chord, especially when folks have been harping on the same one. Happens when you live 40 miles from the Sedona vortex country. Just the tip for the day. :-)**4 Ed Wischmeyer |
