?This is the "new" United/Continental livery. HUH??? The Continental colors
and paint job are pretty enough but slapping United on the fuselage and
calling it a day is just LAZY. Couldn't they have at least used a different
font/color/logo for the UNITED part of it?

Has anyone seen the Delta / NorthWest colors? Anything new or different
there?

Who else is merging? Any new paint jobs?

Well, let's see the other side of the fuselage first.

Think this is the quickest way for Untied to get their name on the
Continental birds after the merger. Bet they will get the full United
treatment as they go in for major servicing.

With the Delta/Northwest merger, Delta is the name that sticks. I'm
seeing quite a few NW aircraft repainted in full Delta colors already.

To quote from World Airline News:
Officially on October 1, 2010 Continental and United Airlines (Chicago) will be merged as “equals” although the United name will survive. Oddly CO’s 1991 livery will live on as the merged airline’s color scheme.
Although the United name will survive, many observers are lamenting the loss of this sharp-looking scheme for United Airlines which was introduced in 2004 and will now be retired. This merger will also end the long reign of the “U” logo which was first introduced in 1974 in another form.

LOL! Good one Dave. That would be interesting.....and not unprecedented.
When the Concorde was being put through its paces and undergoing flight
testing, one of the pre-production aircraft did have different color schemes
on the opposite sides of the aircraft. Air France colors on one side and
British Airways on the other. It was quite neat.

Hi Bob! I was under the impression that the Continental colors were going to
be kept and that just the UNITED name was going to be used as the name of
the new airline.

As for Delta/NW.... I believe that all of the aircraft are going to Delta
colors. No name change or anything. NorthWest is going to be absorbed.

It's not even the first time CO did it. Here is Continental/VASP scheme.

That is pretty neat. I don't know much about VASP at all. It seems they were
a South American/Brazilian carrier. Are they even around any longer?

Have I mentioned I tend to mumble on without sufficient facts? ;^}

Just judging by traffic I see heading into SEA, they appear to fairly
aggressively repainting the NW fleet. Another one bites the dust...
