HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - Hobbs police detectives have arrested the chief
financial officer of the Soaring Society of America and accused him of
embezzling $142,000 from the organization over a two-year period ending
in July.

Police say records indicate 55-year-old Alan Gleason allegedly wrote
and forged checks to himself. Police say he also used the
organization's credit cards at restaurants, convenience and retail
stores and for adult entertainment and gasoline.

Gleason was arrested on a charge of embezzlement over $20,000, a
second-degree felony. He is being held at the Hobbs jail in lieu of a
$50,000 bond.

The Soaring Society of America, headquartered in Hobbs, was formed in
1932 to foster and promote the sport of sailplane and glider soaring.

Did he really have 6 ex-wives? Did we really screen this individual?
That's a BIG red flag from my point of view. In my experience, those
that take care of their private lives usually do likewise in their
professional lives, and vice-versa.
