So, what's all this about exclusivity? What value was added by ANN? Exclusivity is Zoomspeak for "They didn't throw his ass out". YET!! Chuck S RAH-14/1 ret Yep, zooms exclusive was so great that I have yet to see a single account, story byline, photo, or anything attributed to Zoom in any of the news media coverage. Must have missed it in all the coverage from other media sources. Has anybody, besides pauwn, seen anything outside of ANN that was attributed to zoom? It ain't CNN. I saw most of the CNN coverage (thank you Replay TV), which was largely Miles O'Brien and his color man :-) Dick Rutan. Later I was laughing my ass off when I read ANN's article quoting the exact same lines I'd already heard from O'Brien. It should have been titled "our coverage of CNN's coverage". Although I guess it does prove once and for all that somebody at ANN can afford basic cable. Wayne |

DEEPBLU Studios is credited with the video content. I watched it real-time on a satellite feed. At a point just after landing, I saw a person with a TV camera escorted away. (Know anything about that?) Good up-to-the minute coverage was provided by these sites: http://www.spaceflightnow.com and http://www.space.com CNN's website has an article written by Michael Coren of CNN. No mention of ANN. The photos were credited to the Dexter and Southfield Schools, CNN, and Scaled Composites. The content of the stories on the ABCNEWS and FOXNEWS websites is credited to Associated Press. Again, no ANN. The content on MSNBC's website is provided by their own Science Editor, Alan Boyle. So, what's all this about exclusivity? What value was added by ANN? In zoomspeak it means I was there taking pictures .He probably paid his own way and is working for free .It's the old possibility and probability effect in action. It's possible he's the pool reporter but he's probably just there making a pest of himself. Maybe pool reporter means that he does all his writing in the motel swimming pool. I'd love to talk to some real reporters that were there and ask if they saw zoomy in action.LOL!! Chuck S RAH-14 ret Now Chuck.... Have you considered that he might actually be telling the literal truth? For instance: If he hired himself and assigned himself as his very own pool reporter? But I do like your "pool" theory better. Rob Cherney wrote in No mention of ANN. No mention of CNN either, chuckle Why should there be? CNN is not making claims that they have any exclusive agreement with the X-Prize Foundation. The observation is that I have found no media outlet has displayed any indication of reliance on ANN. At the same time, there is nothing on the X-Prize Foundation website that directs media outlets to ANN. So, what's all this about exclusivity? What value was added by ANN? When you figure out what pool media is, you'll get it. OK. Please educate me. And while you're at it, please provide answers to the above questions. And note that I've been civil in this exchange. Press pools are designed to provide press coverage of news events while avoiding having to provide direct access for hundreds of reporters. Pool reporters' products are made available without restriction to all media. You can find a fairly decent description at: http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/P/...olcoverage.htm One unvarying aspect of the traditional press pools is a *mix* of reporters. That's why you sometimes see pool reports bylined like, "Joe Smith of the Big Springs Herald"... Joe won the pool lottery, and that's why Geraldo isn't writing the piece. When the organization that is the *subject* of the news selects a particular entity to provide news to the media, that isn't pool coverage. That's being a press agent. The members of all legitimate press pools are selected either by lottery or by rotation. Ron Wanttaja |
