SN10B laptop replacement
I recently had my hard drive go down on my old Compaq laptop (w/
serial port) during my last contest. Fortunately, I had the SN10B USB adapter as a backup to download my files. This worked just fine. However, not having the laptop interface was making me nervous. In the past, I have had ZERO luck with laptops and USB to Serial adapters (hence the old Compaq), but thought I’d give it a go one more time. I’ve wanted a Netbook, so I went to Costco and picked up an Acer. The following setup worked flawlessly with the SN10B. Acer AO532h-2268 Netbook (Costco $299.99) -Windows 7 starter -Bios upgraded to v1.24 -upgraded ram Corsair 2GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) / Newegg ($44.95) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233079 -all Windows 7 updates installed Belkin F5U409-CU (Amazon.com $38.99) -Vista 32bit drivers directly from Belkin Baud rate set to 4800 / Com port 3 |

SN10B laptop replacement
Belkin F5U409-CU (ebay $20) + Baud rate set to 4800 worked on 3
out of 3 laptops for me. The Belkin is suggested on Dave's website. |

Two comments: (1) We *really* recommend getting the SN10-USB adapter. Avoids any need for serial ports or computers at the airfield. (2) Avoid 64-bit windows: I haven't got confirmation the USB-serial drivers work, and our installer programs do not (requires manual installation of SN10 utilities). Hope this helps, Best Regards, Dave |

Hope this helps, Best Regards, Dave- Masquer le texte des messages précédents - - Afficher le texte des messages précédents - Hi I just went trough this last month. I got a Radio Shack cable to work but not the Staples one. After a lot of problem I found the choice of com port was critical. My laptop has 29 com but all the com from 0 to 6 did not work. My LX 5000 install itself on com 18 for what ever reason but manually I got com 7-9-10 to work. Also my old laptop had only 3 com. Plugging the cable before I open the program LXE I use to connect to the instrument did not work. Now it is the opposite I have to plug the cable before I open the LXE program otherwise it install itself on com 3 and the instrument does not reconize it. I hope this help. S6 |
