Default TOST Tow Spring Pad for Cub

Hi All,

In the process of trying to install a TOST towing system on a Super
Cub. Original part received was a different design and no longer made
by TOST, and there was no way we could make it fit, so it's having to
be returned to the dealer. So now, we are thinking of putting the
current production spring pad mount on the tail of the Cub. The part
is TOST #303030, and includes the E-85 release. A previous part made
had a number of 303020, but it has the same steel box tube as the new
one. The design that failed was totally different.

The problem is that our Cub has been modified to the Pawnee tail wheel
springs which are 1.75" (44.5mm) in width, as opposed to the standard
Cubs 1.25" (31.75mm) wide springs. Have been unable to find out the
inner width of the TOST steel box tube on which the hitch is
mounted. We need to know the inner width, as the tail wheel springs
need to fit inside the tube. As yet, no response from TOST, and the
sales info on the part does not give the inner dimensions of the
tube. Does anyone have a way of knowing if the wider springs will fit
inside the tube support of this TOST spring pad support? Could anyone
take a measurement of the inside width at the back of the tube?
Thanks in advance....

Steve
