Default Engine stoppage during idle

I am considering having the fuel system inspected for
debris/blockages.

I have experienced two different causes of my IO-520 engine quitting at
idle. The first was caused by an incorrect idle mixture setting (at the
regulator or pump, I am not sure which), which my mechanic adjusted, and
the second was caused by debris in the fuel pump.

The latter was disturbing as the engine was newly rebuilt and fingers
pointed as to who (the builder or the mechanic who installed the engine)
introduced the debris into the fuel pump.

Peter: I've had this happen a couple times on "roll out" before I
pushed carb heat off. Lately I have been flying with pushing carb heat
off on short final. This seems to correct the problem. Pushing carb
heat off on short final reassures me of full power if I need to abort
my landing. Maybe others will disagree with my rational.

Thanks, but the engine in my aircraft is fuel injected so there is no carb
heat. I believe that the OrigPoster's engine is also fuel injected (the IO
of his engine make indicates fuel injection).
