Default Cost of Allison Rolls Royce 250 Engine

What is the cost of a Rolls Royce Allison 250 turbine engine, purchased new,
and are they generally available used? If yes, what is a typical price
discount?

Are there lower cost equivalents with smilar reliability either already
released or soon to be available?

the military version of the allison 250 is the t63. the t63a700 is equal to the c18 (317 shp). all the parts are the same as the c18, and these engines can be had for about $25,000. i have one with 18 hours since overhaul that i have advertised for $26,000.

the t63a700 has a military dataplate, hence is not applicable to certified aircraft. the oh-6a helicopter certified in the normal category has an stc to use the t63.

the t63a720 is equal to the c20 allison (420shp). these engines generally go for more money ($50-60,000) since the components interchange with the c20.

Depends on the model. They are indeed generally available, new and used. New
they'll run you somewhere around a quarter mil or more. Used, I've seen them
for as little as $15k in one of those legendary estate sales, and up.

Whether or not there are alternatives depends on your application. What do
you want to do with it?

I'm just curious what percentage of a turboprop conversion cost is the cost
of the engine. Tradewind does an A36 conversion using the Allison for
about $500K, but that price includes trade in of your existing engine.
I'm figuring their material costs are about $300K based on your number, and
labor costs are probably around $20K, so it looks like their margins are
pretty high.

I think Tradewinds is using an Allison c25 for their A36 conversion. What
are aftermarket prices on those?
