Default XC Soar Question

I noticed on my display there are a pair of yellow crescent chevrons that expand and contract with altitude change. I will try to attach a photo. Can anyone tell me what these are?

The yellow areas are "FAI triangle areas".
You can turn them on or off by going to:

call up the Config button, then click through to the System button
once there you have to check the Expert box to see all the options.

Then go to the glide computersoaring page and then set the box marked
Fai triangle area to on or off.
