"The craft was built in the inventors garage from parts taken from other
vehicles, including the handlebar from his daughters scooter over a period
of ten years."

* It took him ten years to take the handlebar off his daughter's scooter? *
Don't think I'd trust anything this guy built. *Even a peanut butter
sandwich.

God bless the Kiwis. They can make anything from rags and a bit of
bailing wire and then have the fortitude to use what they've made. In
our ultra conservative, litigious side of the world we could learn a
thing or two. Oh, and they have national health care too.

I have to admit I agree. The part of my brain that grew up hearing
about safety and lawsuits reacted to the video with that 'Ohh noooo!
He's going to kill someone' bit. The other (bigger) part (that never
grew up) was more like 'Yeah, I'm totally THERE'. Hell, I have Eric
Clutton's book on carving props, and a couple of old BMW airhead
engines.......

They also mandate Mode S transponders... I hope for this guy's sake
that they have a reg saying that a wing in ground effect vehicle isn't
an aircraft!
