Default Real-Time tracking of WGC2006

The 29th FAI World Gliding Championships at Eskilstuna has begun, and
although the weather hasn't been the best, there has been some flying
which could be followed in real-time with the Silent Wings Viewer
(www.silentwings.no) and the vPos (wwww.vpos.no) tracking system.

The vPos tracking system consists of a small GPS device that transmits
position data over the mobile phone network to a central server. By
using the Silent Wings Viewer to connect to the vPos server, you can
watch the aircraft in real time on your own computer (delayed 15 minutes
due to FAI rules). You can move the camera to any aircraft and any
viewing position. It's like watching a sports event on TV where you
control the camera!

There are 24 trackers available, and the plan is to equip the best
(according to the current standings) pilots from one class with trackers
each day.

To watch the races on your own computer, go to the download page on
www.silentwings.no/download and get your copy. (Available for both
Windows and Linux)

You will also need the Sweden scenery which is available from the same
web page to watch the live tracking.

The viewer is offered for free during the competitions in Sweden, i.e
until June 19.

If you are unable to use the Silent Wings viewer you can still watch
snapshots of the tracking in your web browser on
http://tracking.silentwings.no
