Default G-1: which is considered "the original"

Hello,

I would like to buy a G-1 jacket (the one with the "fur" ;-) There are a
variety of vendors (Avirex, Sporty's,...) on the market offering this items.
Is there one vendor that is considered producing the "original" G-1? Or one
that supply's the armed forces? Or one that is simply outstanding in terms
of "historical correctness" or quality?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

Kai

I bought one a while back from U.S. Wings, it actually has added
side-entry handwarmer pockets. A friend of mine, who is a Naval Aviator,
told me me likes mine better than the original because of that. With or
without, that is one kick-ass jacket!

You can get it he http://www.uswings.com/g-1.asp, scroll down to
"US Coast Guard Goatskin G-1".

hth,
Cheers,
Jens

Thank you, Jens. Youn convinced me... ;-)

Since I have to order without actually trying the jacket on: what about the
"fit"? Is it wide, or is it "snag"? Or the other way: What's the size you
use normaly and what size is your G-1?

Thanks in advance

Kai

You're welcome. :-)

Mine is just plain "XL", the fit is just right, not to wide or to snug.
But then I haven't had it to far to send it back for a replacement... In
case you're not sure about your size, just email them and they will help
you. Link's on the order page.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
jens
