Wait, Did you mean weight? I used a VL for a few flights last season and I found it to be a reliable instrument. But weight, There's more! The problem is that it has almost no memory (One flight at the most) and it is big and bulky. The thing needs sight of sky (I don't know if a remote antenna is an option) so the mounting techniques get pretty interesting. Mine was on the canopy rail ahead of the latches and it was so close to my face it wasn't readable in flight. Ive seen other mounting locations that just seem to be in the way. I ended up using my PF for GPS and logging and sold the VL for cheap. If you are using an SN10 the VL is a good way to go.
If you still need a paper wait try one of those decorative sailplane models from one of the glider suppliers.

If you are using an SN10, the PF is an even better way to go! Keep the VL if you need a backup logger, perhaps.
