Default New EAA Airventure/Oshkosh Poster

Tuesday night we had our EAA Chapter 34 local meeting for the month
and the chapter president showed us the latest EAA Posters for the
upcoming Airventure show. The response to them from the chapter was a
total thumbs down. While we thought the idea was "cute", we also
thought it gave a rather unfortunate message to the general public.

For anyone who hasn't seen the poster yet, I will try to describe:

The image on the poster was of a very large container of Planters
Peanuts with the Planters logo replaced by the EAA Logo. Instead of
Peanuts in the container, it said "AVIATION NUTS" with the count of
over 560,000 above the Aviation Nuts. It had a few other details on
the label but I hope you can get the image.

We all questioned the poster from two points:

1. Did it really do anything to entice new people to venture into
aviation?

2. Did it really portray us to the general public in a manner that we
find favorable?

I would like to start this as a discussion of that poster and
hopefully the EAA will take notice.

I saw it in Sport Aviation and thought it had to be a sick joke.

Could it have been the April edition?

Based on the information from our EAA Chapter, it was no joke but
should have been.

YEP, that is the one. They are making large posters of this ad
supposedly for the local chapters to use.
