I'm a SEL pilot looking to transition to gliders. I would welcome any
suggestions as to reading/study materials. Nice way to spend the winter
waiting for the spring and start of operations at local soaring facilities.

Thanks

Chuck

Hi Chuck, try:
Soaring Flight Manual/SSA , for safety of your body
Cross-Country Soaring/Helmut Reichman, for your mind
Soaring on The Wind /Lincoln, for good of your soaring soul
Once upon a Thermal/Walters , for a great fun

Chas

May I suggest "Winning on the Wind" by George Moffat. Think of it as
motivational reading, kinda like reading Bob Hoover or Charles
Lindberg.

Both the original and the latest edition (greatly revised) are worth
every minute spent absorbing them!

Chas, I've found this reading list useful:
http://home.comcast.net/~verhulst/GBSC/read_lst/
And here's a very comprehensive list that I've found useful:

Located in New Jersey. Unhappily, the commute to LV is a killer
I just took a peek at the Wing Runners material. Good stuff indeed, thanks.

Thanks to everyone for the input.

I came across Tom Knauff's book "Transition to Gliders" as I was preparing
for my Commercial Glider Add-On test.
I had been studying the SSA "Soaring Flight Manual" (no longer published)
and Conway's "Joy of Soaring". While these texts are very good, my thought
was "Why didn't I know about this book when I started?" . It would have made
the transition much easier.I recommend it highly. Also-If you don't have
Wolfgang Langeweische's excellent "Stick and Rudder" it is a *must read and
re-read* book!

Enjoy!
