Default VOR Antennae Installation

We have a project in the shop to re-install a pair of VOR antennae on a
helicopter. These are towel bar type antennae, and one of the problems
we found was that the antenna on the left side was installed reversed
from what the installation instructions called out. In other words,
the BNC for the right antenna was aft, the BNC for the left antenna was
forward.

Would this have affected operation of the antenna?

Thanks,

John Kimmel

Yes it will change the phase of the received RF. The signal level and
antenna lobe pattern will be much different.
