I just opened r.a.s. and immediately got a warning notice that this is a
"dangerous" site suspected of "Phishing," that it "shows signs of
involvement in 'phishing,' a scam in which a criminal's web site
masquerades as a legitimate commercial sit to obtain your credit cardnumbr
or other personal information for nefarious purposes."

The sign popped up again when I clicked to post a message.

Actually, this group is Usenet and not a "site". Obviously you're
accessing Usenet through some "site" which generates that message. The
rest of us doesn't see that message.

Utter nonsense.
I am very interested in purchasing your glider. Please to accept my
cashiers check for an amount in excess of your asking price, and
shipping to me your glider very soonest.

It seems that the NY attorney general thought it would be a good idea to
ban the binaries newsgroups used by pedos and leaned on Comcasts to do so.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/07...roup_shutdown/

covers the story, or go to www.theregister.co.uk put 'USENET' in their
search box for other stories on the topic

Comcast originally said they'd drop Usenet entirely, though it wasn't
clear if they meant whether they intended to shut down their NNTP servers
or block all use of the NNTP protocol on their network.

Judging by what you've found they took some flak for the threatened total
shutdown and have backed off, instead settling for merely using warning
messages such as the one you quote.

I get r.a.s. through gliderpilot.net. My service provider is Comcast. The
message that it is a phishing site comes up from my spyware, which is
PC-cillin.

RAS is available through Google Groups at:

1. Sure. But that doesn't change the fact that RAS is not "a site".

2. The OP accesses RAS not through google groups but through
gliderpilot.net, anyway. This doesn't change the fact that RAS is not

"a
site", either.

Is http://groups.google.com 'a site'?
