The location - Minaret Lake - is around 7,500 feet up in a rugged
mountainous area with very few trees and about 68 miles south-south-
west of the Barron Hilton Ranch.

Mike- Hide

Plenty of lakes around that area... I'm still of the opinion that the
plane's underwater in one of those - doesn't take much H2O to hide a
plane!

Minaret Lake was mentioned in an earlier post. If that is the location the
coordinates are 37°39'38.67"N, 119° 9'24.00"W

11 O'clock TV news reported possible aircraft wreckage spotted nearby.

Sheriff's Dept plans on having a news conference at 7 AM tomorrow morning to
report details. Reno local TV station KOLO 8 will carry it live.

I flew over that area last month, and took some pictures.

Link to topographic map of the Minaret Lake area to use with these

Hopefully, there will some additional recovery to allow his family and
friends to complete the grief process.
When he attended the SSA meetings, he was unpretentious, fun to talk
with and his love of flying seemed
still as fresh and joyful as when you opened the canopy after your
first solo flight.

While in psychiatric fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, my favorite mentor
taught how to assess what anything
really means to someone - just ask about their first time.
