LS-3a flap-fuselage gap seals
Does anyone have a source for mylar that can be used to construct
flap-to-fuselage gap seals for an LS-3a? Also, does anyone know the proper thickness of mylar to get? |

LS-3a flap-fuselage gap seals
James,
I use McMaster clear polyester film .010" (part number 8567K92) Unfortunately they only sell it in 10 foot lengths (by 40"). So unless you need the lifetime supply, I will be happy to send you some gratis off of my roll. Just let me know an address. BTW, here is the link to the flap wiper template(s) that I use. http://www.goddard.com/soaring/flapwiper/ Regards, Larry "James D'Andrea" wrote in message oups.com: Does anyone have a source for mylar that can be used to construct flap-to-fuselage gap seals for an LS-3a? LS-3a flap-fuselage gap seals
A former LS-3 owner who is a doctor cut his flap/fuselage gap seals
from used X-ray film. Not pretty but it apparently worked. Not sure whether he used a scalpel or just a pair of scissors. He wasn't a surgeon, though, so I suspect scissors would work just fine. Chip Bearden ASW 24 "JB" |

Earlier, James D'Andrea wrote:

The ones I've seen looked like they were made from .014" mylar. I've got lots of the stuff, left over from making the HP-24 wing plugs. Send me a stamped, self-addressed legal-sized (for 8.5" x 14" documents) envelope and I'll send you enough mylar for a set of seals. Bob K. http://www.hpaircraft.com |
