Default RCAF Yukon transport

What ever happened to the Yukon transport aircraft flown by the RCAF in
the 1960's? Were they scrapped or sold when replaced by the Boeing 707?
Are any still flying? If so, where?

Didn't a bunch end up as freighters here in the USA? Like with Flying
Tigers?

Hi Ed

Funny you should ask about the Canadair (CL-44-6) CC-106 Yukon. The
12-strong fleet was withdrawn from air force service on the 8th of September
1970. They were replaced by the Boeing CC-137. A number of Yukons ended up
being commercially operated overseas as freighters and in the pax
configuration. The R.C.A.F. Memorial Museum at 8 Wing Trenton is in the
process of repatriating Yukon s/n 106932 from Equador. This is believed to
be the last Yukon in existence. It had served with No. 412 'Falcon' (T)
Squadron. This aircraft was headed for the smelter (an all too familiar
scenario these days) but fortunately, after some last minute discussions,
the Direccion de Aviacion Civil (DAC) in Guayaquil, Equador found it in
their hearts to donate the aircraft instead.

Cheers...Chris
