orange red nose color
SH uses RAL colors, using a 2-component urethane-acrylic paint
(paint and hardener) which really needs to be applied professionally e.g. by a dealer (its toxic). This produces a very durable paint job, and probably this is the way to go for any large paint areas. For touch up of small areas, the same RAL colors are available in the USA as single-component acrylic spay cans, and these can be applied by anyone. If its not clear which RAL code you have from your aircraft manual, SH should be able to tell you the RAL code they used. I found minor scratches on my Ventus paint (5 years from the SH factory) were perfectly matched with a single-component acrylic spray can of the same RAL code. I got a spray can from artprimo.com. Before that, I had tried a lot of local automotive suppliers, but they didn't seem to be aware of RAL color codes, and I really didn't get much help from them, except an occasional offer to special-order much larger quantities than I needed. Check with auto paint suppliers. I see the 3024, was this a guess or did you know someone who had a ventus or SH glider? I looked at the RAL colors and I think the 3024 looks right or closer then the others. I got a call to the US dealer. IF anyone has a older Ventus in the 80's and can find the color in the manual, that would be great. Dennis |
