Default Aircraft Scales

My EAA chapter is looking for a set of aircraft scales. We can't break the
bank, but we're not lookin' for junk either. Anyone want to suggest a
source for appropriate scales and a brand/model (or models) that offers good
accuracy at a reasonable price?

Thanks,

KB

Kyle.

Our chapter bought a set of race car scales.
Call me and I'll round up the details. We don't use them as
much as we thought we would.

Look at farm auctions, the old feed & seed platform scales are plenty accurate &
the pillar can be shortened down to any height.--to get under the wings--

Government surplus could be a source. When I needed some, I talked to my
buddy who worked at McC...... an Air Force base. He borrowed two digital
truck scales from the motor pool.

Digital automotive scales can be had new for around $1000.00 for a set
of four.
There are also a lot of the bathroom-scale-conversion setups which are
pretty cheap.

Look for Longacre or intercomp.

The link below has a way to make your own.

Bubba,
It looks like the link does not exist on the page anymore. Would you have an
electronic copy of the plans?
Thanks
Dean

Found this on eBay:

I know that bathroom scales aren't the most accurate but I have also
found digital postal scales at Wal-Mart for under $50 that weigh quite
accuratly (+/- 1%) to #350.

This might make a nice afternoon project for an EAA group without
scales?
