That $175 was what the AME that I used charges.

Near as I can tell, he was doing a very nice business.

I old AME charged $120 but gave a 50% discount to pilots.

That's nice.

Register your plane, $130.00

Process a medical, $42.00 (each time!)

Ouch!!!! Looks like they really want to kill general aviation.

Can't see how an increase in the cost of processing a medical is aimed
at killing GA. Commercial aviation also has to have pilots and those
pilots have to have current medicals.

Now granted the commercials pilots medical fees may be picked up by
his employer. Or at least the commercial pilot could take the fees
as a deduction on his income taxes.

Doesn't a first or second class medical (as needed by a commercial
pilot) cost a lot more than a third?

Yea, but some pilots barly get by as it is. I know a one that has to go in
for a third class 3 times a year due to past mediacl issues he can barly
afford to fly as it is. he is thankfull that he has medial insurance.

Your friend sounds like a perfect prospect for LSA.

As it stands now, my costs run around $200 per year for my class 2
medical. Add to that the delays and "hoop jumping" each year, I have to
consider hanging up my spurs and consider LSA.

What flying are you doing that requires a class 2 medical, but could be done
with a LSA? Or am I mis-understanding your statement?

Tow Gliders. That'll stop too.

BTW, the cost and FAA B.S. would remain the same for a Class 3 Medical.

Medical insurance covers the FAA medical?
