Great except for the task under a huge storm that was not cancelled,
where a number of us flew home and put the gliders away to be safe...
Spectacular for sure!

Likewise I thought the insistence on calling tasks at 9 am and ignoring the weather did not make for an optimal contest. There was great weather on the thunderstorm day out to the S and W, clearly visible at launch, as were the huge buildups on course. Perhaps we learned a lesson that day that the newfangled tasks and procedures have a purpose.

But what a site!

In the late 90s did a short task out of Tonopah on a day that was forecast to overdevelop. Difficult to start, it got great so turned for home getting 161MPH on the return leg.
Flew over TPH an hour and a half ago. Completely overcast.... How strange.
