Default brain scan study on errors about to be made

Some years back (ok, sixteen years back) I read about a study one of our armed forces did in which (I'll simplify) they rigged wires to a pilot's brain and then watched him make errors. They found that there was a flurry of unusual brain activity
just before the error, which did not occur when the pilot made the correct decision. Such info could be used to warn that one is about to do something stupid (though the samae could be said for just detecting the words "watch this" .

Has anybody heard of this study? I'd like to read the original. Sadly I don't know the source even of what I read (it was from a publication, and posted on a (real) bulletin board I passed by)

Jose
