Airmen honor POWs, MIAs

September 21, 2003

CHEYENNE -- Throughout the workday Friday, blue-uniformed members of
the U.S. Air Force demonstrated silently in front of the State Capitol
Building in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day.

Standing beside a display of two pictures on either side of a wreath,
Airmen First Class Amie Caron and Robert Taylor explained the purpose
of the demonstration was to commemorate and honor American warriors
who have been taken prisoner of war and those who are listed as
missing in action.

"We just did it as a good way to show respect," Caron said.

All day long, two airmen took the positions Caron and Taylor were
holding, standing side-by-side off to one side of the display, looking
forward.

Two other airmen marched back and forth on the sidewalk in front of
the building, holding their rifles against their shoulders.
