Single pilot flying IMC is not dangerous at all. It
is done everyday all over the world. But you must be
current, proficient & trained properly. Once you have
a clearance you are legal and ATC will not allow, hopefully
midair.

As far as I know, there has never been a mid-air collision
while IMC with 2 aircraft on a clearance here in the
USA in the past 25 years.

Mid air’s happen under VMC, within 20 nms of an airport,
and 80% of them are overtakes.

A transponder is the equipment needed to fly sailplanes
IMC/IFR. But not required by regulation, FAR 91.
