things to come up sooner or later so its always nice to know the
experts ! I'm flying from EDLM but I'm still struggeling with German
authorities to get my "bush" licence accepted.. but looking forard to
take off next week or so..
So just wanted to say HI ALL !

You bought a pretty good reliable airplane, if it has been maintained.
Good luck to you and please report in once in a while on the status
of your plane and general aviation over there.

Hi Mike,

a "bush licence" is German authorities' interpretation of a South
African PPL.. but you're right: SA is an ICAO country so it shouldn't
be a difference whether you have an US or SA PPL up here, that's what I
told them as well. But you know we Germans evolved to be the
goodfathers of overregulation and then complaining about it if you
saw the result of our last elections you should see what's going on
over here realm of chaos and depression .. no no I'm loosing the
thread.. For any ICAO PPL to be accepted in Germany you have to have a
minimum of 75h flown (I only had 50) pass german airlaw, human-factors
and a german radio licence. As I'm working a lot it took me more time
to get that done than doing my PPL in SA within 3.5 weeks in a holiday
(on interest see: http://www.arcor.de/palb/thumbs.jsp?albumID=3D3427654
man that was a trip!). But don't panic - for foreigners/tourists you
get an temporarily acceptance in Germany/Europe for 6 month on your PPL
within an hour.. just when you plan coming around we just love to
torture ourselfs.
Now that I've done another 25hours, partially with a german instructor,
I can tell you the SA education is much harder and much better, they
teach you spin recovery in all varieties, STOL on bush strips, visual
navigation without any landscapes - Kr=FCger Park, VOR/ADF navigation,
..=2E and are much more precice in checklist and procedures.. even my
german instructor had to admit that.
So this was my struggle..

ooohh this really became a Sunday noon posting now

So long
Kublai
