Default Region 11 -- Air Sailing Sports Class

Can anyone tell me about soaring at this location in general (early
July), and about the Region 11 (Sports Class) contest in particular?

Is it a regular (annual) thing there, is it well attended, how is the
organization? (The SSA contest page does not list a CM or a contest
host.)

Ted,
I have attended this contest the last two years and am heading north
again in a few days.

This is a good location to fly in my opinion and is located 100K North
of Minden, Nv. It is a large open desert area north of Reno, Nv. with
many airfield and agricultural land-out areas.

The sponsor/host each year is Air Sailing Inc. a great organization.
You can read more about ASI and the contest on their web page:
www.airsailing.org
The facilities are very nice. Two paved runways, large comfortable club
house, clean and modern restrooms with showers, small trailers for
rent, and rv parking. Lodging, grocery stores, and restaurants are
20-40 minutes away in Sparks and Reno, Nv.

The CD this year is Jim Hamilton who won the contest last year. It has
been a small contest with less than ten contestents each year I have
been there. Jim is currently flying in the Sports Class Nationals in
Parowan, Ut.

This is a low-stress friendly contest and the people at ASI are great.
It is a lot of fun and a great way to spend the 4th of July.

John Downing
